Wisdom Rising: An exploration of the divine feminine in Buddhism

The second annual Buddhist women’s conference exploring a feminine approach to the Dharma though different themes. This is a precious opportunity to dive into open questions, experience the feminine approach to Buddhist teachings and practices, and honor the importance of the feminine principle in approaching our world’s challenges. While cultivating gentleness and compassion through meditation we’ll recognize the inspiring strength and power of the feminine to provide a space of wisdom in the face of passion, aggression, and ignorance.Participants will be offered a variety of teachings and workshops that include meditation, body awareness, expression, and community building. Acharya Susan Skjei

Susan Skjei, Ph.D., is an educator, coach, and organizational consultant specializing in leadership and transformative change. In 1972 Susan began her studies with the Vidyadyhara, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She attended the 1974 seminary and early Kalapa Assemblies and, at his request, became the first Shambhala Training resident director in the San Francisco Bay Area. Later, she became a student of the Sakyong and served on the Shambhala Board of Directors for over 10 years. During that time she was also Vice President of Human Resource Development and Chief Learning Officer for a large high-tech company.

Susan has taught extensively and has provided mentoring, training and facilitation to many Shambhala Centers in North America and Europe. Currently, Susan is the director of the Authentic Leadership program at Naropa University and a founding member of the Authentic Leadership in Action (ALIA) Institute in Nova Scotia. She also consults internationally with leaders of non-profit organizations and businesses worldwide through her company Sane Systems. She lives with her husband, Jim Pascucci, in Longmont, Colorado.

 

Rev. angel Kyodo williams

Rev. angel Kyodo williams, Sensei is a maverick dharma teacher, author, and founder of Center for Transformative Change. She applies wisdom teaching to social issues at the intersections of racial, economic and climate justice. Rev. angel notes, “Love and justice are not two. Program Details

Registration takes place from 2– 5 pm on your program start date. All participants and volunteer staff must check in at our Guest Registration house. Please arrive before 5 pm to check-in and settle into your accommodations. Your program begins with dinner, followed by an orientation. The Guest Registration house closes at 5 pm after which no one is available to provide information or orient you to your accommodations. All programs usually end at 12:30 pm on the program's departure date, followed by lunch. Further specifics regarding your program's schedule will be available upon arrival. If applicable, you will receive an email from the program coordinator in the week prior to your program with any additional information you may need.
