Writing as a Path to Awakening
Albert Flynn DeSilver
August 13–17, 2015
Are you ready to experience, and then write forth the truth of who you really are? The practice of writing is an exploration of consciousness, a practice toward deeper self-awareness, which moves us along the path of awakening to our true nature.
Many of our greatest spiritual teachers from around the world were, and are, writers. From Sappho in the 7th century BC to Pema Chödrön, from Rumi in the 13th century to Thomas Merton, Jack Kornfield, and the Dalai Lama—the written word has the power not only to inspire, but also to awaken the very best in the human heart.
Writing & Meditation Retreat
Join us for this exciting week exploring your inner and outer creativity. The days will include periods of sitting meditation, writing exercises, readings, standing meditation, creative visualization, Q&A, sharing and discussion. Come be inspired by your own innate creativity, and experience deeper levels of awareness through the practice of meditation, inquiry, writing and listening to words.
You will learn innovative writing prompts and techniques, ways to free yourself of writing blocks, and how to access deeper levels of creativity. You will leave with stronger writing skills, an expanded sense of your own divine being, as well as an extensive understanding of the connection between creativity and consciousness.
This workshop is ideal for both seasoned and new writers—journal writers, memoirists, novelists, poets and others seeking to explore the written word with an open heart and imaginative mind.
