The Fund Development Manager oversees the fundraising team and holds the view of the department. This position is responsible for achieving overall fundraising goals through cultivating new donors & strengthening connections with existing donors, hosting fundraisers, holding knowledge of available resources, and managing donor relationships. Although our ideal candidate for this position would live at SMC, we would consider a remote relationship with an experienced development professional.
Responsibilities
- Work with Executive Director to establish overall view of the Development Department and implement strategic plan to achieve annual fundraising goals
- Build donor relationships through cultivating the community of monthly givers, assisting the Executive Director in managing major donor relationships, and engaging with potential and one-time givers.
- Maintain and update the Fund Development Report and report results to Executive Director
- Present plans and results at quarterly Governing Council meetings
- Create inspiring communication campaigns targeting existing and potential donors
- Coordinate on-land and off-land fundraisers
- Manage appreciation system
- Gain knowledge and skills necessary to run future capital campaign(s)
- Build interdepartmental relationships
- Supervise the Fund Development Associate position
Tasks
- Communicate directly with donors in person and by phone and email
- Write copy for signs on the land, social media posts, website, emails, etc. to engage donors at all levels
- Write and gather copy for Quarterly Development Report
- Gather and edit testimonials and other personal stories to build the voice of SMC
- Keep record of donor communications in Donor Database
- Handwrite donor thank you notes, involving other SMC staff when needed
- Coordinate and implement larger donor appreciation projects
- Host call-a-thons to thank donors or solicit donations
- Plan and execute the End of Year Fundraising Appeal
- Support the Fund Development Associate position in all aspects
Compensation and Benefits
- Approximately 35-40 hours per week
- $12.92-$13.22 per hour for onland employee
- Low-cost housing and meal plan required (currently a combined $375.00 per month)
- Participation in SMC’s Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Leave program (estimated 10 days of PTO accrued in first year of employment, 12 days in second year, 15 days in third and fourth years, 20 days in fifth and subsequent years)
