Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Janet Solyntjes
February 14–16, 2014
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a practical, scientifically supported program designed to reduce stress, facilitate relaxation, and promote physical health and emotional well-being. Inspired by MBSR and the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, this introductory retreat offers tools for coping with “full catastrophe living” including chronic stress, illness, pain or personal crisis. By relating directly with our bodies, thoughts and emotions, we will discover the power of mindfulness to change our lives. Through sitting, walking and body-scan meditation practices – as well as mindful yoga – we will return to our lives better equipped to manage stress.
